The Oneworld alliance member was honored alongside many other international carriers at the SkyTrax World Airline Awards on Monday, June 24, 2024.

 

Qatar Scoops Four Awards, While Delta Dominant in North America

In this year’s edition of the award, Qatar Airways bested 2023 Airline of the Year winner Singapore Airlines, which ranked second to the Qatari flag carrier. Rounding out the top five were Emirates, ANA All Nippon Airways, and Cathay Pacific. In addition to the honor of Airline of the Year, Qatar Airways also picked up three additional awards: World’s Best Business Class, World’s Best Business Class Lounge, and Best Airline in the Middle East.

 

In North America, Delta Air Lines swept nearly all the awards in the region. In addition to taking the top honor as Best Airline in North America, the carrier also won the Best Airline Staff Service award, Best Premium Economy Class Airline in North America and Best Business Class in North America.

 

Among the major carriers in North America, Air Canada ranked second, followed by United Airlines. Alaska Airlines ranked sixth, JetBlue came in eighth, and American Airlines finished second to last – ahead of only Allegiant Air. Southwest Airlines did not rank in the top 10. United was the only major U.S. carrier to pick up an award: Best Business Class Lounge in North America for their location at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).

 

While Allegiant Air ranked at the bottom of the North American top 10, the ultra-low-cost carrier won three awards in their class: Best Low-Cost Airline in North America and Best Low-Cost Airline in the USA. Allegiant beat out both Frontier Airlines and Spirit Airlines for the honor.
