Spirit Adds Bundled Packages Among Other Passenger Service Enhancements

The airline announced a new set of bundled airfares, which include the “Big Front Seat,” snacks, drinks, and a choice of baggage options.

Spirit Bundled Fares Start Mid-August 2024

Beginning in Mid-August 2024, flyers will be able to select their fare from four different tiers of airfare. Each tier includes features for every budget point.

The traditional un-bundled airfare is now called “Go,” offering flyers the lowest possible fare. This fare only includes a seat on the aircraft and one personal item – flyers will be responsible for upgrading everything from seat selection to additional luggage options.

The net tier up is called the “Go Savvy” fare and includes a standard seat selection and either a carry-on bag or checked bag. Both the traditional Go and Go Savvy packages will be able to book starting August 16, 2024.

At the premium levels are the “Go Comfy” and “Go Big” packages. Go Comfy includes both a checked bag and carry-on bag, along with a “Comfy” seat selection where the middle seat is blocked off. Travelers will also benefit from priority boarding and a small snack and drink aboard the flight. For those who must have everything, the Go Big package offers everything. Beyond the included checked bag and carry-on, flyers will get the Big Front Seat premium seating, premium snacks and drinks on the flight, priority check-in and boarding, along with streaming-speed wi-fi on the flight. These fares will be available starting August 16, for travel after August 27, 2024.

The new passenger experience also extends to the terminal. The airline will begin offering premium check-in at over 20 airports starting on August 27. Go Big flyers, Free Spirit Gold members, and those holding the Free Spirit World Elite Mastercard will be able to use the priority lane, giving them first access to a terminal agent.

Additionally, the boarding process will change starting on August 27. The boarding process is expected to reduce boarding time and improve operations. Flyers will board in five groups, with priority boarding available to several groups:

  • Go Big and Go Comfy passengers
  • Free Spirit Gold and Silver members
  • Free Spirit World Elite Mastercard holders
  • Active-duty U.S. service members and their families.

The moves come as Spirit previously promised to improve their customer service, including enhancing checked luggage weight to 50 pounds per bag, ending change and cancellation fees, and extending travel vouchers expiration dates to 12 months on those issued after June 3, 2024.
