The carrier announced another round of new benefits for their loyal travelers in the next year, including locked thresholds of status tiers for the 2025 earning season.
New Benefits Include More Reward Choices, Million Miler Status
The number of loyalty points needed to qualify for status won’t change in 2025. Flyers will still earn AAdvantage Gold status at 40,000 loyalty points, with rewards coming in as little as 15,000 points.
When it comes to personalized rewards, flyers will have more to choose from when they hit milestones between tiers. At 15,000 loyalty points, flyers will have the option to receive the newest gift: A personalized, collectible luggage tag among other options, including Preferred Seat coupons and priority boarding.
AAdvantage will also partner with World of Hyatt next year to offer crossover rewards for flyers. At loyalty point reward milestones, flyers will be able to select various benefits related to the hotelier’s program, including elite status and using AAdvantage miles to book free nights at Hyatt hotels.
Additional new ways to use miles with the AAdvantage program include one-day Admiral’s Club and Flagship Lounge passes, along with sporting events and concerts similar to hospitality programs. AAdvantage Platinum Pro members can also use their miles to access Flagship First dining before eligible flights.
Those who earn systemwide upgrades will have even more time to use them. Effective March 1, 2025, systemwide upgrades will be valid through the status membership year.
Finally, flyers can earn new lifetime status when flying aboard American. At 4 million miles, AAdvantage members will earn lifetime Platinum Pro status, while those who earn 5 million miles will get lifetime Executive Platinum status.
The changes are the cumulation of multiple announcements of promotions and upgrades throughout 2024. Leadership for the airline says they will continue to upgrade and innovate for the program, building off these latest changes.
