Why You Should Stay at the Hotel Indigo Rome St. George & How to Book With Points

A few weeks ago, I spent two wonderful nights at the Hotel Indigo – Rome, St. George. I was on a paid stay so I didn’t cover my hotel with rewards, but I would definitely use points or pay to stay here again if given the chance.

If you’re planning to head to Rome anytime soon, keep in mind that you can book this hotel for 50,000 IHG Rewards points per night. Unfortunately, award nights only seem to be available for double occupancy, so you’ll have to keep the kids at home.

Here’s every reason I would suggest staying here if you can:

  • The breakfast buffet is out of this world. As an IHG Rewards Platinum member, I was given free breakfast at the buffet. I have to say, this breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had in any hotel, let alone in Italy! Not only did they serve honey directly from the honeycomb, but they had smoked salmon, hot dishes like eggs, potatoes, and tomatoes, baked goods, yogurt, and too much else to mention. You could also order unlimited coffee drinks from your server, and their cappuccinos were to die for. I had seven one morning, and no, I’m not kidding!
  • The rooftop terrace offers stunning views of Rome. The Hotel Indigo in Rome has a rooftop terrace with breathtaking views of the surrounding neighborhoods and all of Rome. You can easily see the Wedding Cake and many of Rome’s major landmarks from the spacious deck, but also into the local streets nearby. The hotel restaurant operates on the terrace when the weather is nice, but you can take a drink up there any time to enjoy the view.
  • The hotel’s location is central to the city’s hot-spots. The Hotel Indigo’s location was ideal for Rome sightseeing near the Vatican or within the city’s ancient downtown. It was only a 15-minute walk to the Vatican’s doorstep, yet you could also walk to sights like the Trevi Fountain and Pantheon in 20 minutes or less. I also loved the fact we were tucked away in a quiet neighborhood with cafes and shops.
  • Rooms and suites are modern and well-appointed. Despite the fact that all buildings in ancient Rome must maintain their old-looking facades, the interior of the Hotel Indigo in Rome was incredibly modern and clean. The rooms were spacious with all the comforts of home including a rainfall shower and cozy King-sized bed. Although we were in the thick of ancient Rome, we sure didn’t feel like it!

The Bottom Line

If you are heading to Rome any time soon, consider forking over IHG Rewards points to stay at this hotel. You can use points from your co-branded IHG Rewards credit card to book your stay, but keep in mind that you can top off your account by transferring points from any premier Chase Ultimate Rewards credit card. I would absolutely stay at this hotel again, not only for the luxury but for the views, the location, and the food.

Have you ever been to this hotel? What is your favorite hotel in Rome?
