JetBlue Moves into Brand New Orlando Terminal

In a press release, JetBlue announced they have officially moved into Orlando International Airport’s new Terminal C as the only U.S. based carrier in the terminal.

New Building Features Automated TSA Lanes, New Baggage Handling System

The move will consolidate all of JetBlue’s current operations at MCO into Terminal C, moving out of the airport’s Terminal A. The airline plans on operating almost 70 flights from the terminal to 22 destinations throughout the 2022 holiday season. Spirit remains an independent airline, and will not be affected by the

Travelers going through the new terminal will be greeted by a state-of-the-art baggage handling system and will enter the terminal at a fully automated Transportation Security Administration gate. Once they have passed through the checkpoint, travelers will be able to shop at 10 retail locations and 20 food and beverage options. International gates will have facial recognition technology, making arrivals and departures a faster process.

The presence in the new terminal is part of a larger focus on Orlando as a tourist destination key to the carrier’s overall strategy. JetBlue’s new terminal experience compliments their Orlando Support Center, featuring a pilot and flight crewmember training base, flight simulators, ditch pool and training dormitory. Future plans for the terminal include a rail station which will connect to both the South Florida Brightline rail service and the local SunRail service.

Move Comes After JetBlue Wins Over Spirit

The move into the new terminal comes after JetBlue won their contentious bid to merge with Spirit Airlines, wrestling it away from Frontier Airlines. The New York-based carrier is currently in court with the U.S. Department of Justice over their Northeast Alliance with American Airlines, and it is expected the Spirit merger will also meet regulatory scrutiny. It is unclear if Spirit will eventually move into Terminal C with JetBlue once operations are combined.
