Delta Rewards American Express Cardholders with TakeOff 15

The Atlanta-based airline announced the launch of TakeOff 15: a 15% discount on all award travel for cardholders at any time.

15% Discount Automatically Applied to Itineraries for American Express Cardholders

While it’s no secret that American Express and Delta have a lucrative partnership (valued in the billions of dollars), the two are now working to pass on some of the value to their most loyal flyers. By holding the Delta SkyMiles Gold, Platinum, or Reserve cards, flyers now automatically get a 15% discount on the price of award flights when booking through Delta.

To get the discount, flyers simply need to log into their SkyMiles account on delta.com. From there, they can shop for an eligible flight – partner-operated flights are not discounted through the TakeOff 15 program. Once they have found the right flight, the 15% discount on the points price is applied at checkout. Although taxes and fees are not included in the discount, flyers can use their Delta American Express cards to earn SkyMiles on the flight.

“Our Delta SkyMiles American Express Card Members are some of our most loyal customers, and we want to continue to give them opportunities to travel the world more easily,” Prashant Sharma, vice president of loyalty at Delta, said in a statement. “We’re grateful to have a partner like American Express who shares our vision and passion for delivering ingenuity and excellence to our customers.”

In addition, new qualified Delta SkyMiles American Express Card Members can take advantage of limited time bonuses when applying before March 29, 2023. The bonuses range from 70,000 points after a qualifying spend with the Delta SkyMiles Gold American Express card, or 90,000 points after a qualifying spend with either the Delta SkyMiles Platinum or Delta SkyMiles Reserve card. As always, terms and conditions apply.

Points Discount Compliments Latest Delta Passenger Experience Upgrades

The discount on award flights is the latest way Delta is encouraging flyers to take to the skies once more. In addition to launching bonus programs with Hertz and Starbucks, the airline is also offering free Wi-Fi on most domestic mainline aircraft for SkyMiles members.
