Frontier Miles Moves to Spend-Based Rewards, Shuffles Tier Rewards

The changes will come into effect for 2024, which include new benefits for elite flyers.

Revamped Program Offers Four Tiers with Enhanced Benefits

As with the legacy carriers, Frontier Miles flyers will now earn miles towards tier status based on their spending with the airline. Starting in January 2024, travelers will earn 10 qualifying miles for every $1 spent with the airline. This includes airfare, bag fees, seat assignments, and other bundles. Credit card spending is not currently included towards earning tier qualifying points.

There will be four tiers for 2024, following the standard nomenclature: Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. To earn tier status and a mileage multiplier, flyers must collect:

  • Silver: 10,000 qualifying miles, earns 12X mileage multiplier per $1 spent
  • Gold: 20,000 qualifying miles, earns 14X mileage multiplier per $1 spent
  • Platinum: 50,000 qualifying miles, earns 16X mileage multiplier per $1 spent
  • Diamond: 100,000 qualifying miles, earns 20X mileage multiplier per $1 spent

To qualify for the lowest tier, flyers would need to spend $1,000 on Frontier products.

All tiers come with a new suite of benefits, including free advance seat assignment, priority customer care, and priority boarding. All elites will also get family pooling of points and no cancel or change fees if they make changes at least seven days in advance of their flight.

The benefits also increase alongside the tiers. At Gold tier, flyers can qualify for Premium Seating upgrades and a free carry-on bag, where available. At Platinum level, flyers can get a free checked bag – including golf, ski, or scuba gear – and a free pet-in-cabin where available. Gifting status to a friend or family member is also available at the top tiers: Platinums can gift someone Silver status, while Diamonds can gift Gold status.

To encourage flyers to embrace the new program, Frontier is offering two promotions. First, flyers who travel aboard Frontier will be able to earn one mile for every mile flown and 10 miles per $1 spent. The promotion is valid through December 31, 2023.

The second promotion is for those flyers who have the Frontier Airlines World Mastercard. Those who spend $3,000 on the card by February 29, 2024 will earn Gold status for the entirety of 2024.
