New Marriott Bonvoy Promotion Targets United 1K Flyers

Both the hotelier and airline are launching a limited time preferred partnership program targeting Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elites and United MileagePlus Premier 1Ks.

Top Tier Elites Can Earn PlusPoints or Suite Awards

The promotional period runs through March 31, 2024 and requires elites to register on the Marriott website. Eligible Marriott Ambassador flyers who register and complete $4,000 in flights operated by United or United Express during the period will receive 40 PlusPoints in their MileagePlus account. Only flights operated by United or United Express will count towards the spend requirements; flights marketed by United or operated by Star Alliance members are not eligible.

Introduced for the 2020 elite qualifying year, PlusPoints replaced the regional and global upgrade certificates earned with elite status. Upgrades aboard United using PlusPoints can range anywhere from 10 points for short regional flights, up to 80 points for international travel. The PlusPoints will be deposited in the flyer’s account after the promotional period ends, and could take up to 21 days to appear.

The rewards also work the other way for United MileagePlus Premier 1K flyers as well. Flyers who spend $3,000 at Marriott Bonvoy properties by March 31 can earn three Suite Night Awards. Soon to be known as “Nightly Upgrade Awards,” the Suite Night Awards can be used to upgrade to either a premium room or suite, based on the hotel’s availability.

The promotion is in addition to the current reciprocal status offered between United MileagePlus and Marriott Bonvoy. Bonvoy Ambassador and Titanium elites can get complimentary United MileagePlus Premier Silver status,
