Alaska Airlines Expands Flight Map Beyond West Coast

The airline announced 18 new routes now available for sale on their website, including their first ever service to Vail, Colorado, and flights from the Midwest to Mexico.

New Service Includes Flights to Mexico, Vail, Reno, and Costa Rica

The new flights are designed to connect flyers to leisure locations. Whether travelers want to hit the snow-covered slopes or sip a drink on the beach, the Seattle-based carrier wants to help you get there.

Outside of their traditional service areas, Alaska will begin offering direct seasonal service from two Missouri airports to Mexico. Running January 18 through June 7, 2025, flyers can travel from Kansas City International Airport (MCI) to Cancun with once-per-week service. Between January 25 and April 5, 2025, Midwestern travelers can go from either Kansas City or St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) to Puerto Vallarta with service once per week.

Missouri isn’t the only state getting additional flights. The carrier will also introduce daily service between Boise Airport (BOI) to Santa Ana John Wayne Airport (SNA) starting on December 19, 2024. Other seasonal service options include San Diego and Seattle to Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) outside of Vail, Colorado; Seattle and San Francisco to Liberia, Costa Rica; and Sacramento and Boise to Orlando.

“We’re thrilled to offer convenient connection for guests across our network with this expansion,” Kirsten Amrine, vice president of network planning and revenue management at Alaska, said in a press release. “Whether checking destinations off their bucket lists or setting off to their favorite winter getaways, we’ve put together an exciting range of options from tropical destinations across Mexico to the most popular ski slopes in North America.”
