Alaska Re-Opens San Francisco Lounge After Terminal 1 Move

The airline opened their new Alaksa Lounge at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

New Lounge Features 11,000 Square Feet of Natural Light and San Francisco Favorites

The new space in San Francisco is part of the airline’s plan to enhance their lounges in key cities. The 11,000 square-foot space is the biggest in the state of California, featuring a healthy dose of West Coast influence.

The lounge features two different types of premium beverage experiences for flyers in-between trips. Guests can choose between the bar featuring local craft brews and wine selections or choose a coffee beverage from the barista station. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide plenty of natural light for flyers, while new seating options – including lounge chairs overlooking the airport – provides relaxation options for everyone.

The space is also full of food options to keep everyone fed and happy at the airport. The popular sourdough breads with a selection of spreads will still be available, while the airline is adding a second made-to-order pancake machine by popular demand.

Even though the primary purpose is relaxation, the lounge is also built for business. In addition to power outlets at nearly every available seat, the space also features TalkBox booths to provide absolute privacy for those who need to take a call. To improve environmental sustainability, Alaska worked with William Duff Architects to make sure the space earned the LEED Gold certification from water conservation measures and reduced energy usage.

The new space compliments Alaska’s move to San Francisco’s Harvey Milk Terminal 1. Both the new lounge and enhanced customer experience in the terminal are part of the carrier’s commitment to $3 billion in investments at their West Coast hubs.
