MGM Resorts Dumps Hyatt for Marriott Bonvoy

MGM Resorts and Marriott International announced the launch of a “long-term, strategic licensing agreement,” allowing members of both loyalty programs to book hotels, earn rewards, and redeem points for rooms and experiences starting in October 2023.

MGM Properties Join “MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy,” Promises Exclusive Opportunities

The strategic partnership between the two brands is very similar to the previous one with Hyatt. Under the agreement, 17 MGM properties in Las Vegas and across the United States will join the “MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy.” They include the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, and New York-New York Hotel & Casino.

Four properties will join specialty brands within the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio. The Bellagio Resort & Casino will affiliate with The Luxury Collection, the ARIA Resort & Casino and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas will be part of the Autograph Collection, and the Park MGM will enter the Tribute Portfolio. Other MGM properties which will be bookable through Marriott include locations in Atlantic City, Detroit, and Biloxi, Mississippi.

The agreement will also offer reciprocal rewards for Marriott Bonvoy and MGM Rewards members. In addition to earning their choice of points between both programs, members of each will be able to exchange their points between Marriott Bonvoy and MGM Rewards. Moreover, Marriott Bonvoy members will also be able to earn points when placing wagers through BetMGM and participate in “exclusive games, experiences, and offers” on the platform.

“This historic, long-term agreement brings together two of the most trusted and iconic brands in hospitality and entertainment,” Bill Hornbuckle, President and Chief Executive Officer, MGM Resorts. “We’ve seen first-hand the strong demand from Marriott International customers through our existing relationship at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, and this new agreement will enable us to further optimize our overall profitability.”

More information on the partnership, including linking programs together, will be provided as the partnership comes together.
